Mid-IR LEDs enable 2D biometric identification in laptops

June 19, 2021
Two infrared LEDs are offered at 850 (SFH 4171S) and 940 nm (SFH 4181S).

Two infrared LEDs (IREDs) are offered at 850 (SFH 4171S) and 940 nm (SFH 4181S) to enable 2D biometric identification in laptops. Installed in an Oslon P1616 package, they measure 1.6 × 1.6 × 1.71 mm. Special primary optics bundle the light at a 35° beam angle, optical power at 1 A is 1150 mW, and beam intensity is 680 mW/sr.
