Coherent appoints medical chief and ships green lasers

Coherent Laser Group (Santa Clara, CA) has appointed James Taylor, currently president and CEO of Andros Inc. (Berkeley, CA), president of the medical group. Coherent has also shipped its Verdi-V8 (8 W) and Verdi-V10 (10 W) diode-pumped, solid-state lasers. The lasers will be used in conjunction with Coherent`s Mira modelocked Ti:sapphire laser to produce high average power and wide wavelength tunability in interferometric applications such as nondestructive testing and holography.
