A·P·E and NKT Photonics cooperate on ultrafast lasers for OPO systems

NKT Photonics will supply its aeroPULSE line of ultrafast fiber lasers for A·P·E’s Emerald Engine OPO systems.

NKT Photonics (Birkerød, Denmark) and A·P·E (Angewandte Physik & Elektronik; Berlin, Germany) have signed a long-term framework agreement by which NKT Photonics will supply its aeroPULSE line of ultrafast fiber lasers for A·P·E’s Emerald Engine. The aeroPULSE laser used for general OPO pumping as well as for A·P·E’s integrated picoEmerald OPO.

NKT Photonics says its aeroPULSE pulsed lasers combines the picosecond seed source from its high-volume SuperK manufacturing line with its aeroGAIN photonic crystal fiber (PCF) amplifier technology to achieve stable ultrafast fiber lasers with both high output power and narrow linewidth well-suited for OPO pumping.

A·P·E integrates the aeroPULSE pump laser in their OPO systems (see photo), typically used in CARS and SRS imaging applications. René Kristiansen, aeroPULSE product line manager of NKT Photonics says, “The advanced imaging applications where A·P·E is playing a key role are becoming more and more important for biomedical research.”
