Princeton Optronics 940 nm VCSEL array has use in illumination applications

July 23, 2015
A line of 8 W, 940 nm VCSEL arrays for illumination applications have efficiency >45% and ~1 nm spectral width.

A line of high-power (8 W) 940 nm vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) arrays for illumination applications have efficiency >45%, ~1 nm spectral width, and a circular beam with divergence of 18 degrees (full angle). Measuring 2 × 2 mm and normally mounted on submounts, the array's solar background rejection capability stems from the sharply lower level of solar background and use of narrowband filters for the detector arrays at 940 nm compared to wavelengths such as 800 or 850 nm.
