LumiLEDS, San Jose, CA, a manufacturer of blue, green, cyan, and white high-brightness LEDs, is adding to its Aixtron MOCVD platform by ordering the new high-throughput AIX 2600G3HT MOCVD Planetary Reactor providing the worldwide largest capacity for the growth of GaN, InGaN, AlN and other related compounds. LumiLEDS has received worldwide recognition for their high efficiency and long lifetime LED-based products used, for example, for traffic signals to replace conventional bulbs as well as low voltage krypton or halogen light sources.

The new AIX 2600G3HT represents AIXTRON's success to supply to its green-blue-white LED manufacturing customers the cost-breaking high-capacity G3-MOCVD Technology too. Extremely cost-efficient use of starting materials complement this tool from a cost-of-ownership perspective for the deposition of nitride-based materials. This equipment, in addition, fulfills the strict requirements of excellent layer uniformities together with high-yield performance to fast ramp-up capacity in a minimum period of time.

Dr. Holger Juergensen, CEO of Aixtron, said: "We are proud to have this unique customer relationship for more than ten years, when Aixtron technology contributed significantly to the enabling of UHB-LED development and production. Our team appreciates very much to again deliver our leading MOCVD technology to the world largest LED producer."

Adding the ground-breaking Luxeon lighting technology recently, LumiLEDS has established a new state-of- the-art: highest flux LEDs available around the world, supplying up to 325 lumens of white light or as much as 790 lumens of red light, and a comparable brightness in other colors offers the preferred and unbeatable choice for LCD monitors and notebook computer screens as well as fabrication of extremely small and sleek light sources. These will provide very low electrical power consumption stretching lighting fixtures into new and never foreseen silhouettes and applications.
