DILAS Diodenlaser and m2k-laser combine operations

Two subsidiaries of ROFIN--DILAS Diodenlaser and m2k-laser--have merged effective January 1, 2016.

aTwo laser diode subsidiaries of ROFIN--DILAS Diodenlaser (Mainz, Germany) and m2k-laser (Freiburg, Germany)--have merged effective January 1, 2016. m2k-laser's primary customer has been DILAS and this merger is expected to increase the efficiency of both entities. The combined unit will be headquartered in Mainz, and will operate under the DILAS brand. The site in Freiburg will be transformed into a business unit called DILAS Semiconductor.

With design and epitaxial service on laser diode chip level from Freiburg, and laser diode packaging, beam shaping, and systems technology from Mainz, the two sites provide complementary technologies. The combined company is expected to create the basis for expanding the portfolio of products and technologies.
