The 2015 photonics tradeshow in Munich, LASER World of Photonics, announced it will grow from four to five halls totaling 55,000 sq  meters. Held from June 22-25, the world's largest laser show also includes a scientific conference, World of Photonics Congress.

The 2015 photonics tradeshow in Munich, LASER World of Photonics, announced it will grow from four to five halls totaling 55,000 sq meters. Held from June 22-25, the world's largest laser show also includes a scientific conference, World of Photonics Congress.

The new hall will enable an increased focus on imaging and vision--a focus that will no longer conflict with the November VISION show in Stuttgart, which is held in alternate years. Other focus areas at the tradeshow are laser systems for manufacturing, biophotonics technology, additive manufacturing, ultra-short pulse lasers, and 3D X-ray microscopy.

The World of Photonics Congress will highlight the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies as it focuses on the latest developments in laser and photonics research. Plenary speakers include Nobel laureates Theodor Hänsch and Serge Haroche; Federico Capasso will open the Congress. At the 2013 Congress, 3,500 participants attended more than 2,800 lectures and poster presentations.
