Laser Drive acquisition creates Martek Power Laser Drive

Torrance, CA--Martek Power acquired Laser Drive; the new company Martek Power Laser Drive will specialize in power supplies for various laser and light sources.

Torrance, CA--Martek Power, a designer and manufacture of power supplies and converters, announced the acquisition of Laser Drive (Gibsonia, PA), a company specializing in the design, development, and production of power supplies for various laser and light sources. This latest addition to the Martek Power group is now named Martek Power Laser Drive.

Phil Thackray, Laser Drive director of R&D, said "Martek Power will help Laser Drive address new market segments that we have not been able to in the past." As a result of this acquisition, Martek Power will have a greater presence in the laser and lighting power supply market, where there is significant opportunities for growth.

"Our [Laser Drive's and Martek Power's] customers will greatly benefit from the combining of Laser Drive's technology with Martek Power's manufacturing expertise..." said Mike A. Innab, president, Martek Power. The combined business will further extend Martek Power’s existing broad range of product offerings and increase its industry leading position in the power supply market.

Some of Laser Drive’s laser products include power supplies for Argon, HeNe, and diode lasers. Its light products include capacitor charging power supplies for dye and excimer lasers, deuterium lamp power supplies, CW arc lamp and tungsten lamp power supplies, and a variety of flash lamp power supplies. Laser Drive’s manufacturing quality system is ISO 9001:2008 certified.
