Terahertz laser from Edinburgh Instruments provides output power >150 mW

April 25, 2017
The FIRL-100 CO2/far-IR (terahertz) laser system will be installed at the Dresden High Magnetic Field Laboratory HXDR.

The FIRL-100 CO2/far-IR (terahertz) laser system, which will be installed at the Dresden High Magnetic Field Laboratory HXDR, will be used for the multi-frequency pulsed-field (up to 70T) ESR (Electron Spin Resonance) spectroscopy of strongly correlated magnets. It features both a CO2 pump laser and far-IR cavity in an invar-stabilized integrated head, providing output power >150 mW at 118.8 μm with CH3OH gas.
