Electro-Optics Technology acquires laser crystal supplier FEE

Sept. 19, 2018
FEE's laser crystal medium production will enhance EOT's ability to deliver laser components to high-power laser makers and users.

Optical components manufacturer Electro-Optics Technology (EOT; Traverse City, MI) has acquired Forschungsinstitut für mineralische und metallische Werkstoffe -Edelsteine/Edelmetalle (FEE; Idar-Oberstein, Germany), which supplies specialized laser crystals. The new subsidiary will be known as FEE GmbH – A Division of EOT.

FEE's expertise in producing laser crystal mediums will enhance EOT's ability to deliver high-quality laser components to manufacturers and users of high-power laser systems. The acquisition will provide the two companies with complementary technology and products that will enhance both companies' core businesses, as well as support future growth.

EOT will support the ongoing crystal development programs at FEE, enabling FEE to continue and expand its current development efforts. Furthermore, EOT intends to make the necessary investments in the staff, facilities, and equipment at FEE as required to address long-term growth and stability there.
