Jenoptik receives long-term order for defense-related infrared optics
The photonics group Jenoptik (Jena, Germany) announced that it will supply infrared optical components to Rheinmetall (Düsseldorf, Germany) between 2020 and 2025. The framework agreement recently concluded between Jenoptik and the German company for defense and security technology is worth an amount reaching the high single-digit million euros. The deliveries will include custom-developed precision infrared optics for use in land vehicles to protect soldiers in action.
Jenoptik manufactures optical components and systems for the infrared spectral range, focusing on OEM custom OEM products. Key target markets primarily include the semiconductor equipment industry, medical technology, automotive and mechanical engineering, traffic, aviation, and security and defense. Jenoptik has three photonics-based divisions: Light & Optics, Light & Production, and Light & Safety. The Light & Optics division is a global OEM supplier of optics, laser technology, digital imaging, optoelectronics, and software for areas that include semiconductor equipment, laser material processing, healthcare and life sciences, industrial automation, automotive and mobility and safety, and equipment for scientific institutes.
Rheinmetall supplies products for the German and international armed and security forces and is a longstanding partner of the armed forces of Germany, its NATO allies, and other nations.
