Space-ready optics for micro and nanosatellites are athermalized

Feb. 28, 2023
Miniature space-ready optics withstand launch vibration and shock, extreme temperature, high vacuum, and cosmic radiation.

Miniature space-ready optics withstand launch vibration and shock, extreme temperature, high vacuum, and cosmic radiation. All elements in space-ready optics for micro and nanosatellites are secured, unable to break loose, and are athermalized. For longer missions, cerium-doped glass elements are used to avoid the discoloration effects of cosmic radiation on standard optical glass.
