A 100-mm-diameter single-crystal aluminum nitride (AlN) substrate has been produced for use as a semiconductor material.

A 100-mm-diameter single-crystal aluminum nitride (AlN) substrate has been produced for use as a semiconductor material. AlN is used for UVC LEDs and power devices, with its wide bandgap and high thermal conductivity. The substrate shows a usable area of over 80%, based on current requirements for UVC LEDs.
