Thin pellicle beamsplitters

April 1, 1996
Thin pellicle beamsplitters offer low absorption, distortion, chromatic aberration, ghosting, and astigmatism. The nitrocellulose pellicle is ground to a 2-µm thickness and bonded to the face of a precision-lapped hard-anodized aluminum frame. Standard uncoated pellicles offer 90% transmission and 10% reflection through the visible and near-IR wavelength regions. Other transmission/reflection ratios can be achieved using specially coated pellicles.
