Micromirror projector nears commercialization

SAN JOSE, CATexas Instruments (TI, Dallas, TX) demonstrated the latest advances for its digitalmicromirrordevice (DMD) technology at the annual Society for Information Display (SID `94) symposium last month. The DMDs are alldigital spatial light modulators targeted for use in projection systems for business and entertainment. In the TI booth, front projection systems using a conventional NTSC format and an HDTV format showed goodquality video images that were vivid and colorful.
