A new variable beam tuner has been designed for use with diffractive optical elements (DOEs). Placing the DOE tuner between the DOE and focusing lens allows for image size control in most elements, and finer control over the separation angle in multi-spot beamsplitters. The tuner may also be placed before the DOE to fine-tune the input beam size.
