A borosilicate glass sight tube for visual inspection of oil pipelines has a 9 3/4-in. bore. To make a tube with a cross-section >1 in. that could withstand pressures in the field, several smaller tubes were fused together in a laminating process. The process can be used to fabricate a variety of components.
