Resolve Optics Ltd. (Chesham, England), a developer of OEM quantity specialty lens systems and optical designs for small and large high-tech businesses, says it has invested in modulation transfer function (MTF) testing equipment. The investment enables unambiguous metrics detailing the performance of the specialty lenses and lens systems the company designs and supplies, reports Resolve.

"The growth in demand for higher quality and higher resolution optical systems has placed a burden of proof of performance on specialist optical design and manufacture companies. The new MTF test equipment provides us with the capability to qualify the high performance of our optical systems objectively and quantitatively," said Resolve's managing director, Mark Pontin. Indeed, a recent article in Laser Focus World notes that the modulation transfer function is an important standard for determining final lens-system performance.

Last month, Resolve released a statement emphasizing its custom lenses for critical machine vision applications, noting that all the information a machine vision system collects comes through the front-end optics--and that the use of optimized custom lenses can reduce the need for image processing as well as improve system performance and measurement robustness. Custom lenses offer machine vision camera suppliers and systems integrators the opportunity to achieve full performance potential, gain competitive advantage and ensure security of supply over a critical system component, the company said.

Operating from its ISO9001-2008 approved facility in the UK, Resolve Optics Ltd. has for over 20 years demonstrated "the proven and rare capability to produce small quantities of high performance, mounted lens systems with the look, feel and quality equivalent to the best professional photographic and broadcast TV lenses," the company boasts.
