Element Six to showcase single-crystal diamond at SPIE Photonics West 2017

Jan. 20, 2017
The Optical+ Low Absorption single-crystal (SC) diamond has uses in a wide range of applications, including optics and quantum science.

The Optical+ Low Absorption single-crystal (SC) diamond has uses in a wide range of applications, including optics and quantum science. The diamond is produced with Ns0 levels ≤30 ppb, an absorption coefficient (at 1.064 µm) <0.005 cm-1, and stress birefringence (Δn) of 2 × 10-5. Combined with diamond's high thermal conductivity and low thermal expansion, it is used as the gain medium for Raman lasers and as a low-loss intracavity heat spreader for high-power disk lasers.
