Autoclavable optical coatings have use in medical technology

March 13, 2025
Designed for medical applications, the coatings can withstand countless sterilization cycles in an autoclave over the long term.

The STAR (Stable Anti-Reflective Coatings for Medical Technology) research project developed chemically and mechanically antireflective coatings. They can be applied to plane or curved substrates, including aspherical lenses, cylindrical lenses, and spherical lenses, and tailored to specific wavelengths. Designed for medical applications, these coatings can withstand countless sterilization cycles in an autoclave over the long term.
