Augmenting its quantum technology offerings, Rohde & Schwarz acquires Zurich Instruments
Rohde & Schwarz (Munich, Germany), which is active in quantum technology (quantum sensing), will acquire Zurich Instruments (Zurich, Switzerland). Thanks to the acquisition, Rohde & Schwarz is now positioning its test and measurement solutions in quantum computing, one of the most promising future technologies in the world.
A spinoff of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH Zurich), Zurich Instruments offers test and measurement systems for the scientific and industrial research industries. The company has over 100 employees at its Zurich headquarters and regional offices in China, the U.S., France, South Korea, Japan, and Italy. In addition to quantum technology, the company has a strong network and extensive experience in academic physics research.
The test and measurement market for quantum computing holds enormous potential for both companies. Operating and maintaining a large-scale quantum computer requires numerous, specific test and measurement solutions. Thanks to their complementary products, the two companies will provide complete solutions in the future.
For customers at Zurich Instruments, the combination will lead to more innovative product roadmaps for lock-in amplifiers, impedance test and measurement instruments, and quantum computing control systems. All functions at Zurich Instruments will remain in place, from development and production to marketing and sales.
