PRESS RELEASE
OptiPro Systems Announces New Machine Line for 5 to 80 mm Optics
Ontario, NY – March 3, 2011 - OptiPro Systems, designer and manufacturer of optical fabrication equipment, launched their new line of machines for low, medium and high volume production of precision optics. The PRO 80 Series includes the PRO 80G or GTS (Grinder, Twin-Spindle as an option), PRO 80P (High speed spherical polisher), and the PRO 80UFF (UltraForm Finishing for aspheres). This unprecedented PRO 80 Series is the result of over 25 years of excellence in engineering by OptiPro’s advanced team of engineers and technicians. OpitPro took extra care to listen to critical customer needs to ensure that these new machines hit the mark. The unique modular concept packs a lot of capability into a a compact footprint. Integrated is OptiPro’s newly developed powerful CNC graphical user interface making them easy to use for even complex optical components. With powerfully simple job-setups, exceptional ergonomics, highest quality machine components and robust spindles, the PRO 80 series provides competitively priced machines built completely in the USA!
The revolutionary PRO 80 Series is designed with a vibration isolated “rock-solid” granite core to ensure ultimate precision, thermal stability and consistent part-to-part accuracy. The machine measures 1 meter (39.4”) in width, 1.5 meters (59.1”) in depth, and 2.08 meters (82.2”) in height, or the equivalent size of a refrigerator. Like all of OptiPro’s CNC machines, the PRO 80 Series comes equipped with the powerful high-end Fagor 8070 CNC machine control with a high resolution LCD touch screen monitor.
“By customer demand OptiPro’s PRO 80 Series provides a complete solution from short-run prototypes to production optics” says Mike Bechtold, President of OptiPro. With the PRO 80 Series, you get a machine with a small footprint that will deliver big results, coupled with the service and support our customers have grown to love.”
The PRO 80G generator is capable of grinding spherical and aspheric lenses in optimal cycle times with high precision. The PRO 80P is a high speed spherical lens polisher for workpieces up to 80 mm in diameter. Fast setups and cycle times are achieved with the PRO 80P, yielding high production of spherical optics. The PRO 80UFF utilizes OptiPro’s patented sub-aperture polishing system called UltraForm Finishing (UFF). The innovative UFF process incorporates a moving belt of polishing material wrapped around a precision compressive wheel delivering ¼ wave or better accuracies. With bound and loose abrasives, the PRO 80UFF can polish a wide range of materials, including optical glasses, optical ceramics, and stainless steel injection mold inserts. OptiPro plans to add a fourth machine to the PRO 80 Series, the PRO 80C which will be a centering machine for 80 mm optics before year end.
The PRO 80 Series will have its debut showing at Optifab 2011, May 9-12 at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center in Rochester, NY, USA. Learn more about this new machine line and see these machines in action for the first time by stopping by OptiPro’s booth (#414).
