ASI to display microscopy system, laser scanner at SPIE BiOS and SPIE Photonics West 2014
The dual-inverted selective plane microscopy (diSPIM) system generates 3D volumes with isotropic resolution (330 nm in all directions). Axial resolution is said to be ~2X better than confocal or spinning-disk systems, with a ~7- to 10-fold reduction in photobleaching. It acquires images at up to 200 images/s (2-5 volumes/s). Its multicolor capability has enabled testing of cells cultured on cover slips, cells embedded in collagen gels, and nematode and zebrafish embryos.
A fiber-coupled, 2D galvo laser scanner can generate SPIM light sheets. A user-provided light beam enters the scanner on a standard fiber-optic connector, which is then steered in the sample plane using an electronically controlled galvo comprising an integrated two-axis MEMS mirror, providing rapid response and negligible vibration. An optional anti-striping mirror varies the beam’s angle of incidence on the sample to mitigate shadowing effects. The scanner interfaces to a microscope using any C-mount port. Applications include light-sheet microscopy, optogenetics, local uncaging, and fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP).SPIE BiOS/SPIE Photonics West booth number: 8837 (SPIE BiOS) and 873 (SPIE Photonics West)To Learn More:Contact:Applied Scientific Instrumentation (ASI)Headquarters: Eugene, ORProduct: diSPIM system and fiber-coupled laser scannerKey Features: diSPIM system: 3D volume generation with 330 nm resolution in all directions; fiber-coupled laser scanner: SPIM light-sheet generationWhat ASI says: View more information on the diSPIM system and fiber-coupled laser scanner.View More Products Locate a vendor or system integrator in our Buyer's Guide.Share new products that you think are particularly interesting or helpful by contacting Lee Dubay, Associate Editor, Laser Focus World.
