PRESS RELEASE

LOOKING FOR A MINIATURE ACTUATOR?

BURLINGTON, MA Steinmeyer, Inc. announced a brand new product focusing on the miniature robotics and life sciences markets: a new integrated miniature actuator consisting of a small dc servomotor coupled to a precision ball screw. Due to its compact design, no external bearing and coupling are required! Included in the completely integrated assembly is a high precision Steinmeyer miniature 8 mm diameter ball screw, a Faulhaber DC motor with graphite commutation, rotary encoder and gearless coupling. The result is high speed, backlash free positioning with high dynamic performance. This product is ideal for applications in miniature robotics and precision dispensing systems.

The actuator is available in travels ranging from 10 to 300 mm, with resolution of 1 micron (courtesy of the integrated rotary encoder), speeds up to 120 mm/s, and capable of peak axial loads to 800 newtons. Options include Steinmeyer ball screw with alternate diameter and pitch (standard is 8 mm diameter with 2 mm pitch). A compatible drive/controller is also available upon request.

The Steinmeyer group is comprised of two manufacturing divisions located in Germany. August Steinmeyer GmbH & Co. KG (located in Albstadt) has been setting standards for high precision ball screws for over 40 years and prides itself on high quality, innovative designs to meet demanding customer requirements. Our Feinmess Dresden (FMD) division has been producing an extensive line of high precision positioning systems for well over 130 years.
