A software-controlled video camera subsystem automates the capture of live portraits. PhotoEase locates the facial area, then crops and scales the image without operator intervention for applications such as photo IDs in passports, drivers licenses, voter IDs, health-care cards, and access control ID cards. The system automatically adjusts focus, color balance, lighting, and complexion extremes. The software is available for PCs running OS/2, Windows 3, Windows NT, and Windows 95.
