Field-emission-display consortium restructured

Coloray Display (Fremont, CA), its parent company Scriptel Holding (Columbus, OH), and SRI International (Menlo Park, CA) have created a new multipartner consortium to fund and continue development of field-emission-display (FED) technology currently owned by Coloray, SRI, and other consortium partners. Grou¥members will receive the benefit of SRI and Coloray research and patented technology. The new arrangement cuts Scriptel`s capital costs and opens FED technology to other companies while assuring continued development. Philli¥Schlosser, Scriptel vice president, said that Scriptel/Coloray would retain a "fully paid license to its existing technology and could participate in future technology developed by the consortium." The company would be relieved of funding requirements "but would nonetheless have the ability to pursue arrangements generating license fees and royalties." Work will be done at the Center for Field Emission Displays at SRI.
