To increase capacity, optical-filter and coating manufacturer Barr Associates Inc. (Westford, MA) has expanded its production area by 7500 sq ft, for a total facility size of 43,000 sq ft. . . . In a move to focus its business on optical-components and products, the Optometrics Group (Ayers, MA) has sold its microplate-products business to instrumentation-manufacturer Columbia Biosciences Inc. (Frederick, MD). . . . Optical-component supplier Meadowlark Optics has relocated from its 5000-sq ft Longmont, CO, location to a new 20,000-sq ft facility in Frederick, CO. . . . MicroE (Natick, MA) is subcontracted to Digital Optics Corp. (Charlotte, NC) on a Small Business Innovation Research grant to develop a miniaturized encoder for space applications (see Laser Focus World, Sept. 1997, p. 61). MicroE has developed the encoder technology that will be downscaled by Digital.
