Robert L. Byer of Stanford University (Stanford, CA) and Edward Swenson from Electro Scientific Industries (ESI, Portland, OR) will speak at Laser Marketplace `95 on February 8, 1995. The seminar provides an annual forum for industry leaders to hear about and discuss the business outlook and key technology trends for the laser and electrooptics industry. Byer is professor of applied physics and director of the Center for Nonlinear Optical Materials at Stanford and a pioneer in solidstate, diodepumped, and tunable laser research; he will discuss recent developments in solidstate laser technology and their potential implications for new market and business opportunities. Swenson, who is senior vice president of advanced research and development at ESI, will review new developments in laserrelated aspects of semiconductor manufacturing; ESI makes both semiconductor equipment and solidstate lasers.
