High-brightness blue phosphor sheds light on flat-panel displays
May 1, 1995
Researchers at Planar America (Beaverton, OR) have developed a stable, thin-film electro luminescent blue phosphor of cerium-doped calcium thiogallate (Ce:CaGa2S4). Cerium has been known for more than 10 years as a blue-emitting electroluminescent material, but previous host materials yielded insufficiently bright output or blue-green emission, requiring additional filtering to achieve true-blue output.
