December 15, 2005, Washington, DC--The Photonic Applications, Systems, Technologies or PhAST Conference and Laser Focus World have formed a partnership for the 2006 PhAST/Laser Focus World Innovation Awards Program.

The award will be presented at the CLEO/QELS and PhAST Plenary Session on May 22, 2006. In addition, the chosen entry's submitter will participate in the prestigious Press Luncheon with other prominent speakers at the conference. Four honorable mentions will also be selected; these presentations will be delivered during a PhAST Session on the show floor. In addition, all winners will be highlighted in official conference materials onsite. All submissions must be received by March 17, 2006 for consideration. Submitters will be notified on April 5 if their submission has been selected for presentation.

"We are delighted to partner with the PhAST Conference to reward the innovation that is so fundamental to our industry," said David Janoff, senior vice president of the Advanced Technology Division, Communications and Optoelectronics Group at Pennwell Corporation.

Presented to exhibiting companies, the PhAST/Laser Focus World Innovation Awards Program provides an opportunity to preview future technologies as well as comprehensive overviews of the latest applications in the optics and photonics industries. Companies will address areas such as the product's impact on the optics industry, the life expectancy of the application, and how the service will benefit the industry in a unique way. These presentations provide exhibitors an additional opportunity to showcase applications and products before top industry decision makers in attendance at the premier laser conference.

"Innovation is a hallmark of the industry as a whole and a theme of the PhAST Conference, and Laser Focus World is a highly respected and widely read industry publication. The partnership was a natural fit," said Corey Dunsky, 2006 PhAST co-chair.
