Blue Sky Research Appoints Basu As VP And CFO

Blue Sky Research, a privately held developer and manufacturer of high-performance, cost-effective optical network components, announced that Sandip (Bill) Basu has joined the company as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Basu brings over 17 years of financial experience with semiconductor and telecommunications companies to Blue Sky Research, and is managing all aspects of corporate finance and planning. Basu reports directly to Daniel Hu, President and CEO of Blue Sky Research.

"His exceptional finance and operational skills, extensive management experience, and proven track record of directing the growth of technology companies are helping to enable Blue Sky Research's aggressive expansion into the optical telecommunications components market."

Basu comes to Blue Sky Research from his position as Vice President of Finance and Administration at Avistar Communications, a video networking company. At Avistar, Basu was responsible for all financial planning and played a key role in guiding the company through a successful IPO in 2000. Prior to Avistar, Basu was CFO and VP of Operations at Intalk Inc., a wireless LAN company that was acquired by Nokia in 1999. Preceding Intalk, he held the position of Director of Finance and Operations at Silicon Systems, a data storage semiconductor company, which was acquired by Texas Instruments in 1998.

Basu holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Santa Clara, graduating second in his class, and a BA in Economics from the University of Toronto.
