Power Technology buys DPSS laser maker Klastech

Jan. 30, 2013
Laser diode developer and manufacturer Power Technology has acquired the business of Klastech, which manufactures advanced diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) lasers for metrology, holography, biofluorescence, Raman spectroscopy, and semiconductor inspection applications.

Little Rock, AR--Laser diode developer and manufacturer Power Technology has acquired the business of Klastech (Dortmund, Germany), which manufactures advanced diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) lasers for metrology, holography, biofluorescence, Raman spectroscopy, and semiconductor inspection applications.

Klastech's DPSS lasers are based on the company's patented Intra-cavity Impedance-Matched Amplification-Tuned (iMAT) technology. The technology employs a complex dual-cavity design that significantly increases second-harmonic conversion efficiency, produces an inherently diffraction-limited output, and provides natural frequency selective performance.

Power Technology will retain the Klastech organization in its entirety, and will be working over the next several months to integrate both products and employees into the organization. Production and sales of the Klastech laser line will continue in the company's Dortmund location.
