Oriel Instruments Introduces TLS Series of Fully Integrated Tunable Light Sources

Stratford, CT - April 12, 2013 - Oriel® Instruments, a Newport Corporation brand, introduces the new fully integrated TLS Series Tunable Light Source. The compact and easy-to-operate system delivers up to 0.6 nm resolution of monochromatic light in a broad tunable spectral range from 250 nm to 2,400 nm. The TLS systems are an economical solution for researchers who need the flexibility of a modular light source with the simplicity of an integrated system. All TLS Series Tunable Light Sources are factory characterized prior to shipment and come with included spectral output data for reference.

"We took the most commonly requested systems and pre-assembled, aligned and characterized them at the factory. Our customers can now get their tunable light source up and working with minimal set-up time," says Nancy Fernandes, Site General Manager for the Oriel Product Line at Newport Corporation. "All they need to do is install the lamp and power the system. The included throughput data provides valuable information about the typical output without spending time doing throughput calculations."

The Oriel TLS systems are mounted on a 12 x 24 in. baseplate and feature a research series light source, a motorized filter wheel with four order sorting filters, as well as a 1/8m monochromator with two multiple fixed slit wheels and two 600 l/mm gratings. A collimated output with standard Oriel 1.5 inch series flange allows easy use of different types of optics. The integrated TracQ software package for PC-based system command and data acquisition is also part of the standard system.

Oriel Instruments offers three models of fully integrated TLS systems, differing in the lamp type and wattage, namely 75W Xenon, 300W Xenon, and 250W Quartz Tungsten Halogen lamp based systems. For more information on the TLS Series Tunable Light Source please visit www.newport.com/TLS-LightSource
