Munich, Germany -- Laser World of Photonics ("Laser Munich") has launched a new iPhone App just in time for next week's Laser 2011. The App should help visitors navigate the show via targeted searches for events and exhibitors. Features include a built-in exhibitor data base and interactive floor plan, as well as product listings and schedules for the conferences and events. The App is free and can be downloaded from iTunes or from the Laser 2011 website. Alternative versions of the App are also available for other smartphones.

A biennial event, Laser World of Photonics opens May 23, 2011--one month earlier than past events--and offers visitors an unparalleled global view of photonics technology and applications. In 2009 1,034 exhibitors attracted 25,365 attendees to Munich.

Key focus topics at the 2011 exhibits are lasers and laser systems for manufacturing, green photonics, as well as biophotonics and life sciences. In addition, defense and security is also being featured separately for the first time, with exhibitors presenting related laser applications.
