nLight gets $4 million U.S. Federal funding for eye-safe lasers

October 13, 2009--According to The Columbian (Serving Clark County, Washington) , nLight Photonics (Vancouver, WA) is one of 20 Washington companies that will receive a total of $63 million in federal defense work from a recent 2010 U.S. Senate appropriations bill, according to U.S. Sen. Patty Murray. The manufacturer of semiconductor lasers will get $4 million to improve the Air Force's eye-safe laser capabilities by developing advanced fiber laser technology.

Patty Murray. The manufacturer of semiconductor lasers will get $4 million to improve the Air Force's eye-safe laser capabilities by developing advanced fiber laser technology.

In addition to supporting engineering jobs in Clark County the contract would improve military laser technology used to counter roadside bombs and other threats to the war fighter, Murray said in an announcement.
