July 10, 2007, San Diego, CA--JMAR Technologies, a developer of advanced laser and high-resolution imaging and photonics technologies, announces a second sale of its proprietary BriteLight laser heads to the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) for use in the National Ignition Facility (NIF) program.

The stadium-sized National Ignition Facility houses the world's largest laser system consisting of 192 laser beams delivering 1.8 MJ of ultraviolet light. When completed (2009), NIF will have the ability to create immense pressures and temperatures similar to those in stars, supernovae, or nuclear weapons, bringing the study of astrophysical phenomena, materials science, and nuclear physics into a controlled laboratory setting.

"We are pleased to extend our relationship with Lawrence Livermore on such a significant program," said Neil Beer, CEO and president of JMAR. "We believe our patented, high-brightness, high-power advanced photonics technologies will continue to attract a growing number of key opportunities like the NIF." JMAR products target nanotechnology, bioscience, and the semiconductor industries with its BriteLight laser, a stand-alone product as well as the x-ray light source in nanolithography systems, and has more recently developed and patented a double pulse version of Britelight for the Army Research Laboratory's IED detection program. In addition, JMAR employs key strategic alliances for the production of a hazardous materials chemical sensor, and the prototyping and production of a nanoparticle ultra-thin coating system.
