PRESS RELEASE

APPLIED IMAGE ANNOUNCES THEIR NEW BALL LENS TECHNOLOGY

Rochester, NY - APPLIED IMAGE, is proud announcing its newest manufacturing technology - Precision Glass Ball Lenses. Ball lenses are ideally suited in applications such as fiber optical couplers, laser focus lens devices, collector in LED lighting, microscopy, & endoscopy, or sensors, to name a few of their unique applications. Ball lenses can focus or collimate light and are mechanically simple to incorporate into complex optical systems such as endoscopes, barcode scanners, or used as a condenser lens.

Other unique uses of ball optics is as preforms for sphere and asphere compression molding applications. Or they can be used as preforms for creating small plano/convex lenses through conventional machining in a cost effective manner.

The Ball Lenses are custom manufactured to high tolerances using the specific glass material required for each application. The size can range from 1mm to 35mm in diameter. APPLIED's unique process allows us the ability to produce large quantities or just a few parts of exceptional quality, economically, at low costs.

"The addition of the ball optics capability continues to build our extensive family of APPLIED IMAGE products, includes the new IMAGING GAUGE Image Analysis System and our new Photo-Mask Making Services," said CEO Bruno Glavich. "We are already a prime manufacturer of custom opto-imaging components, calibration standards, and image evaluation test targets. This new capabilities expand our offering significantly for our current and future customers."
