Spectrophotometer from McPherson for optical component analysis
The VUVAS scientific-grade spectrophotometer offers long lamp life at 120 nm and is designed for analysis of doped and crystalline materials, deep-UV optics, and coatings. It provides direct optical characterization of transmission and variable angle reflectance, with gas cell absorbance optional. It also offers reproducible wavelength control throughout the 120 to 350 nm region.

PRESS RELEASE
Purged Ultraviolet Spectrometer
McPherson has launched its latest VUVAS range, high-performance, scientific grade spectrophotometer. McPherson’s new measurement platform provides more stable measurements over time and is easier to maintain. With longer lamp life at short ultraviolet wavelengths (120nm), it’s ideally suited to analysis of doped and crystalline materials, as well as deep UV optics and coatings. The new VUVAS offers direct optical characterization of transmission, variable angle reflectance, and gas cell absorbance (optional). It also offers precise, reproducible wavelength control throughout the 120 to 350 nanometer wavelength region, and sensitive signal recovery with “lock-in” detectors controlled from software. McPherson Spectrometer Control Software provides single-point control for scanning and data acquisition.
As part of the VUVAS family, corrected and single beam instruments are available with environmental controls (vacuum or the new purged versions). The new VUVAS controls give more rapid and reproducible measurements in an environment that minimizes sample contamination while extending lamp life -- through the use of purge controls that integrate sensitive Oxygen sensors and automatic low- and high-flow purge gas channels.
The VUVAS provides a very powerful tool for direct optical measurements from 120 to 350 nanometers. Many accessories are also available -- such as light sources, detectors, sample chambers, etc.
McPherson (Chelmsford, MA USA) manufactures a wide variety of instruments that measure wavelengths of light, and has served international and domestic customers in university and research laboratories for more than fifty years.
