Microtech Instruments bandpass THz filters for 0.1 to 1.2 THz frequency range

July 23, 2012
Bandpass filters allow for the selection of narrow bands in the frequency ranges of 0.1–1.2 THz.
Bandpass filters allow for the selection of narrow bands in the frequency ranges of 0.1–1.2 THz. They use multilayer frequency-selective surfaces to achieve a desired frequency response. The allowed bandwidth varies with center frequency, from 10 to 200 GHz.Microtech Instruments

----- PRESS RELEASE Eugene, OR. Microtech Instruments, Inc. announces availability of thin-film THz polarizers and band-pass filters. Thin Film Terahertz Polarizers are designed for application in 0.1-3.0 THz range. The polarizers consist of an array of metal stripes fabricated on a polymer membrane using ultrafast laser micromachining technique. Typical stripe width and spacing are about 15 µm. THz thin film polarizers provide for performance comparable to free-standing wire grids, such as G25s and G30s, made of 10 µm wires spaced by 25 µm and 30 µm, respectively. Main advantage of thin film THz polarizers is significantly larger clear aperture – up to 90 mm in diameter. For comparison, G25s wire grid polarizers are only available with clear apertures of 40 mm.
