NIR bandpass filters from Semrock are optimized for 1.5 μm eye-safe lasers
A series of hard-coated bandpass filters are keyed to popular laser lines in the 1500 to 1600 nm region. They can be used as laser source cleanup filters or detection filters that pass particular laser wavelengths over the full InGaAs detector range of 850 to 1750 nm. They are optimized for eye-safe lasers in the 1.5 μm range.

PRESS RELEASE
Near-Infrared Bandpass Filters Now Available from Semrock
ROCHESTER, N.Y., September 11, 2009 – Semrock has announced the release of a new series of bandpass filters that demonstrate the extension of its high-performance optical filter technology to the popular near-infrared wavelength range. These highly reliable, hard-coated bandpass filters are keyed to popular laser lines in the 1500 – 1600 nm region.
The new near-IR filters are ideal as laser source clean-up filters, and as detection filters which pass particular laser wavelengths and virtually eliminate background over the full InGaAs detector range (850 – 1750 nm). They are optimized for the most popular “retina-safe” lasers in the 1.5 um wavelength range, where maximum permissible eye exposures are much higher than in the visible or at the 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser line.
Applications for these filters include laser radar, remote sensing, range-finding, and laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS). The near-IR bandpass filters are a good match for Er-doped fiber and glass lasers at 1535 nm, Er-doped fiber and InGaAsP semiconductor lasers at 1550 nm, and Nd:YAG-pumped optical parametric oscillators (OPO’s) at 1570 nm. Standard 25 mm diameter filters are available immediately from stock, with custom sizes available in less than a week.
“Semrock is very pleased to be able to offer NIR optical filter manufacturing capabilities,” said Turan Erdogan, Semrock’s CTO.
